Cristian Volpato

Attacking Midfielder and Dreamer

“From down under to the old continent, I bring my vision of the game”

My Story

From Australia to Serie A

Cristian Volpato is a professional footballer born on November 15, 2003 in Sydney, Australia, to a family of Italian origin. Despite his Australian roots, he chose to represent Italy at international level, wearing the jerseys of the Italian youth national teams.

Technical characteristics

An attacking midfielder standing 190 cm tall, Volpato is distinguished by his tactical versatility: he can also be deployed on the right flank or as a box-to-box midfielder. A natural left-footer, he combines good individual technique, game vision and an imposing physical structure that allows him to move effectively in tight spaces. He is dangerous both in long-range shots and set pieces, characteristics that, combined with a strong personality on the pitch, make him a complete and modern player.

Football journey

Volpato took his first steps in football in Australia, developing in the youth academies of Sydney Utd 58, Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers. In January 2020 he was signed by AS Roma, where he completed the youth ranks before making his first-team debut under José Mourinho in December 2021, at just 18 years old.

His first Serie A goal came in February 2022 against Verona, immediately demonstrating personality and technical quality. In June 2023 he moved to Sassuolo, the club he currently plays for and with whom he contributed to promotion to Serie A by winning the 2024-2025 Serie B championship.

National team

After declining a call-up from Australia for the 2022 World Cup, Volpato chose to represent Italy, making his debut with the Under-21s in November 2022 and subsequently distinguishing himself in Italian youth competitions.
